Acupuncture

Acupuncture is part of the Traditional Chinese Medicinal (TCM) system, which has been has been used to diagnose, treat, and prevent illness for more than 3,000 years. It is accepted around the globe as a safe, effective and holistic alternative or complement to modern conventional medicine.

In TCM good health and disease are observed as a state of balance or imbalance in the body, therefore the focus of treatment is to balance the person rather than fight disease.

The TCM practitioner must seek the underlying cause for illness by observing the patients presenting signs and symptoms as well as their overall state of wellness. The purpose of treatment is to correct imbalances so the body, mind and spirit can return to its natural state of harmony and wellness. Each person is treated for his or her individual imbalance and treatment is personalised regardless of the disease or conventional medical diagnosis.

According to TCM philosophy, wellness is
dependent on the body's life energy moving in a free and balanced way through a series of pathways in the body. This energy is called Qi (pronounced chee). The flow of Qi can be disturbed by many factors including trauma, excessive work, emotional stress, poor nutrition, weather conditions, hereditary factors, infections and toxins.

An Acupuncturist inserts fine needles into the skin to stimulate the body's energy channels to regulate the body’s free flow of Qi, this helps to restore optimal health.

Acupuncture can be used to treat a wide range of conditions,
some of these include:
